Radiography Program

The Bethesda Radiography Program began in the 1960s as a hospital-based certificate program in order to provide the hospital and surrounding community with competent radiographers.  Since 1968 well over two hundred and thirty students have graduated from our institution.  Eddie Lockett, MSRS, R.T., (R)(CV) has been the Program Director since 1983.

The Program has earned a reputation in the community for producing competent, well-educated technologists.  Many graduates have stayed at Bethesda after graduation to work in radiology, CT, MRI, radiation oncology and Bethesda Health City.  Additionally, alumni may be found all over the county in hospitals, imaging clinics and physicians’ offices and community colleges working as staff technologists, supervisors, educators and advanced modality technologists.  Thus, the Bethesda Radiography Program has supported the Hospital’s mission of providing quality healthcare in a caring manner both in the Hospital as well as the surrounding community.

In January 2012, the Program became part of Bethesda College of Health Sciences. Students transfer the general education and prerequisite college courses to the College and complete the two-year Program with an Associate of Science degree.

Today the Program continues its mission of providing the opportunity for students to develop into competent, knowledgeable radiographers who provide quality radiological services in a caring manner. The program is accredited by the JRCERT, which is recognized by the US Department of Education.

The Radiography Program adheres to the latest JRCERT Standards which may be found here:
